Abstract

To tackle the rising unemployment and poverty problems, many governments are creating and implementing skill development programs which help to generate vocational skills in workers. A skill can be developed through perpetual learning and hard work. It is something that can be enhanced if one has a passion and determination to polish their knowledge and ability to perform an activity unconditionally. Skill development aids in creation and development of human capital which further leads to minimization of gender inequality. In today's age of globalisation, it plays a crucial role in the improvement of efficiency and standard of labour which not only empowers a nation but also enriches an individual's social and economic life. A person is drastically transformed from being an unskilled labourer into a skilled personnel due to development of a particular skill. Also skilfulness proves to be a key to success when qualities of a person are properly blended with appropriate training. This paper sheds light on the present obstacles of skill development and will give us a clear view about how skill development proves beneficial to convert challenges into opportunities for an individual as well for a nation.
